At the Cornell University site in New York, this experiment is designed to evaluate fertilization practices in day neutral strawberries grown in low tunnels. Half of the research plots received 60 pounds/acre pre-plant incorporated nitrogen. Overlaying this will be five different rates of nitrogen applied during the growing season via fertigation (soluble fertilizer injected through the irrigation system). Fertigation rates will range from 0 to 8 pounds per week. Application of the randomized treatments to individual beds is delivered through tubing running ninety degrees to the plots and is controlled by a valve at the end of each plot. The planting will be covered with low tunnels in June.
